Nurse Practitioners (ACNP)... transforming health care
BackgroundThe Nurse Practitioners Association of Australia (NPAA) was a body that represented and promoted the nurse practitioners (NP's) role across Australia. NPAA was looking to expand their role within the industry and provide training to their members. As such they wanted to re-brand the organisation and provide extra services to their members. The new body, the Australian College of Nurse Practitioners (ACNP) was to represent the interest of all Nurse Practitioner's (NP's) as they interface with the health care system. The college would continue to be a proactive voice in helping to shape health-care delivery in Australia and equip NP's to develop their career paths in various health settings. The BriefACNP wanted a dynamic and fresh brand that would be recogniseable and expanded across all their media, both off and online. This was to include all brand assets; vector-based logo design, tag-line creation, business cards, letterhead design, envelopes, e-mail signatures, and a new website. The website needed to be informative, content rich, and be able to be updated by their internal staff. The website would serve as a portal for all the state branches and as such, would need to be maintained by the state elected members. The content would be educational and news oriented, making sure that their members are kept abreast of events and movements in the nursing arena. The Solution - Design & FunctionalityThe logo was to be designed to be a text-based logo with a splash of colour to indicate the fresh approach to health-care brought by the nurse practitioners role. The website design was to be in keeping with this fresh feel as well as impart and organise large amounts of information. The website needed an advanced content management system with multi-level access control to enable content updating, not only by the nationally elected representatives, but also by the state elected officials. The site also needed to be able to provide information to members-only, in addition to the information presented to the public. The website also required the means for members to be kept informed directly about new information on the website, as well as open a dialogue between members. It was suggested that the best way to achieve this would be via electronic newsletters, a members only forum, podcasts and RSS feeds. This would provide both longevity to their site and aide in user attention and retention. Also in order to further streamline the administration of ACNP, it was recommended that members have the ability to pay membership fees online via a payment gateway protected by a security certificate. The ResultThe logo design and tag-line provided ACNP with the image they were looking for and met all their criteria for the new branding to be rolled out across all their corporate assets. The website has exceeded the expectations of ACNP in both design (giving them a professional image) and functionality, (providing them with the means to manage and interact with their members on a national and state level).
